NEVADA PRISON EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH DRUG TRAFFICKING

A Nevada prison employee was arrested after an ongoing investigation culminated in a drug bust on the evening of Feb. 4. The 62-year-old man was taken into police custody in a parking lot as he and another suspect, a 22-year-old woman, were allegedly handing over the drugs. The two are now facing charges of drug trafficking and possession.

After a month-long investigation by the Nevada Department of Public Safety and by the Inspector General of the Nevada Department of Corrections Office, the prison employee and one other were arrested that Saturday evening. The defendant, a food service manager, had been working at the prison since October. Police claim that he had been smuggling drugs into the prison, as investigators seized roughly 3 grams of heroin and over 100 grams of methamphetamine.

Both the prison worker and the other suspect were booked into the local sheriff’s building, where they were charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell, trafficking a controlled substance of 28 grams or more and two charges of furnishing a controlled substance to a state prisoner. In addition, the other defendant faces two charges of transporting a controlled substance as well. Bail was set at $250,000 for the prison employee and $500,000 for the other defendant.

Since one of the defendants was an employee of the prison, he will undoubtedly want to seek an experienced criminal defense lawyer, as charges of drug trafficking and possession could very well mean more than just the end of his career. An attorney with experience in cases involving drug crimes will have knowledge of various defense strategies and can work with the accused to pursue the best outcome possible. Anyone in Las Vegas or the surrounding area who is facing charges of drug possession or trafficking is innocent until and unless proven guilty and has the right to secure the counsel of an attorney who will fight to protect his or her rights.

Skillful Defense Against Any Type Of PCS Or Marijuana Possession Charge

My only concern is securing the best available result for each client I serve. I am diligent If you are found in possession of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, a medication for which you have no doctor's prescription, club drugs or drug paraphernalia, I will present the strongest possible case to show that the drugs were not yours or that the police had no grounds to perform the search that led to the discovery of the drugs.

If the prosecution has compelling evidence in your case, I will pursue every available option in an effort to avoid a conviction on your record. Depending on the circumstances surrounding your case, it may be possible negotiate 3363 treatment that would allow for your case to be dismissed after you complete court-ordered classes or drug treatment.
