What to Do Following a Las Vegas Arrest

Everybody knows the old saying: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – and maybe for good reason, that should be the case. However, our society requires us all to abide by a certain set of laws, and Las Vegas is no exception to that.

With visitors from all around the world and across the United States flocking to Las Vegas for the lure of a 24-hour party town, many visitors will push themselves to their limit and often not practice the same self-control they do when they are back at home. With bars and casinos open all throughout the night, the environment is primed for behavior that may result in arrests or even criminal charges.

At the Law Offices of Benjamin Nadig, we work daily with people who have found themselves arrested for incidents such as bar fights resulting in disorderly conduct or misdemeanor charges, the craving to party all night long resulting in possession of a controlled substance, or an argument with a partner that can lead to a domestic violence case.

If you find yourself arrested or have received a citation in a Las Vegas casino, nightclub, or hotel, here’s what you need to know:

  • As with any type of arrest, always remember that you have the right to an attorney who will fight to represent you, regardless of the case.
  • You also have the right to remain silent, as well as the right to not be searched unless there is probable cause. You are not obligated to say anything to law enforcement, and instead can have your attorney speak for you.
  • It is never a smart idea to run from authorities or resist arrest. If you run, the risk of additional charges being added increase. If you resist an officer by laying hands on them in any way, a simple misdemeanor can turn into a felony.
  • Police are trained to watch and read your reactions to certain things. If you find yourself in custody it’ll be beneficial to look down and keep quiet. It’s common to want to look at areas where you do not want police to search, by not looking around you can avoid searches.

The Law Offices of Benjamin Nadig have handled numerous cases such as assault, battery, DUI, and many more. We fight to make sure to charges pressed against you are either significantly reduced or completely dismissed. Our team looks forward to getting you out of unfavorable situations and providing you with a way to help you get your life back. Give us a call today.
